Aynsworth is a small hobby kennel devoted to the improvement of the Shetland Sheepdog breed.  We are located in the Birmingham, Alabama area.  Our kennel was built as a part of our home.  We maintain a small number of adults, usually in the single digits.  We have been breeding since the early 1970's, averaging 1-2 litters a year.  We have been fortunate to finish a number of homebred dogs as well as dogs bred by others.  We have owned four Register of Merit sires and one Register of Merit dam, Working and Herding Group winners, a National Specialty Best Of Breed winner, National Specialty Award of Merit winners, numerous National Specialty class winners, Best in Specialty Show (BISS) winners, and we have finished multiple obedience titles also.

We have also owned, shown and finished a German Shepherd.

We sell our pet puppies on spay/neuter contracts, and we reserve the right to select appropriate homes for any puppies we offer for sale.  We only raise a litter when we hope to retain a puppy for ourselves.  Our puppies are home raised and socialized.  Our aim is to have healthy, well-adjusted puppies who make wonderful family companions.  Show quality puppies are sold to homes that have already indicated an interest in conformation showing.  Our puppies are sold with written guarantees.  The parents are health tested.  No puppies will be sold to commercial entities, nor may they be resold to a retailer or pet shop.

If interested in a puppy or adult, please contact us via e-mail.  At that time please let us know what you want (color, sex, etc.), the age group you are seeking, the purpose of the dog (pet, breeding, performance or show), and what your family situation is and how the dog will be expected to interact.

We have been members of the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA) since 1976, and we are members of The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Birmingham (SSCGB), and members of the  Birmingham Kennel Club.  Both of us have held various offices, and Ellen is an AKC licensed judge for Shetland Sheepdogs and Jr. Showmanship, has served four terms on the ASSA Board of Directors and judged the National Specialty three times  (2000, 2008 and 2016).
